Porland is my favorite northwest marathon as it is over 8,000 runners, great crowd support, city and residential views and the Saint Johns Bridge! I was on channel 2
news television after the marathon which certainly was a nice plus. I trained really hard for this marathon and it was the first one of the fall for me. Last year it was my
second marathon of the fall, so to finish five minutes faster, one year later made my day!
I had a very slight wall at 18 and 19 where I dropped down to 12 minute miles but kicked it back to 10 at mile 20. Overall I was not as strong as RnR in June, but I
expect that when running the first race of the season. My sites are on New York City and Seattle but Portland is going to be a regular run for me each year Lord willing because I love it.
It was a perfect weather day and I was able to yell happy 80th birthday to Bob Dolphin on the out-and-back which was my main goal next to finishing! I didn't have a
negative split which I like to do, but was only a minute slower then when I did such
last time so I have no complaints. Each marathon is different and to finish number 23 is all that matters!
